There are a few ways a fire could start in my house. One way it that the stove could be left on after my dinner, and another is that something electronic could overheat after being left plugged in and left unattended. Even though it is unlikely, everyone needs a plan to get out of a house that catches fire, and families need to coordinate an escape route and an emergency strategy so everyone stays safe.
If there were a fire, I would go out the front door or back door depending on where the fire is. In addition, if I had to consider getting out of the house in an emergency situation caused by a fire, I could also use a window as an escape route . My sister would have the same options and possible routes as I would, except she would start from her room, which is next to mine.
In addition, my parents would need to escape. They would also go out the front or back door depending on the location of the fire, but they would have to consider getting our dogs out as well as they sleep in my parent’s room. As a last resort, we could use the garage to escape, and we would meet in the yard, right outside the fence. One of my parents would call the fire department and we would wait.
Besides escaping, we would have some options if it were a small fire. There are several fire extinguishers throughout our house so if a small fire happened, it would be pretty easy to put it out. Also, we would hope that if a fire did start fire that it would probably be relatively small and could be easily put out quickly by us using fire extinguishers.
The most important aspect relating to fire is to prevent them, and then in the unlikely event one occurs, it is important to have a plan for escaping as a family.
